remember Christmases past!
There was a little light behind the logs with an aluminum thingamajig that spun around with the heat from the light and giving the illusion of a fire. Does anyone else have one of these? The first ads I've been able to find for them are from the 1940's when they cost about $1. Christmas 1971

Well, living in an apartment the first 12 years of my life, we too had a cardboard fireplace but nothing as grand as yours. I hope you can find this up in your mother's attic!
Apple, You've reminded me of my in-laws cardboard Christmas fireplace decoration. They used it for years and the grandchildren loved it! Theirs, too, had the little whirling reflector over a bulb to "glow and flicker." I'll never forget the day when my brother-in-law and one of his buddies arrived --- I think the buddy had consumed more than a little Christmas "cheer" as he stood in front of the "fireplace" holding out his hands to warm --- and then he would turn about to warm his backside. He returned to the fireplace to "warm" several times much to our delight. Thanks for the memory.
MERRIE CHRISTMAS!

I remember asking how Santa would make it to our house because we didn't have a chimney when I was little. We finally got a real one about the time I was a teenager, maybe a little before that. We enclosed the carport and made it into a den.
Of course, there's a "stove" in the fireplace now, so I don't think Santa would enjoy his scoot down the chimney too much!
Sheesh, at our house, poor ol' Santa had to land in the furnace down in the basement. Boy, he must've been really desperate for the cookies and milk!
It is in Mom's attick, we can't part with that old fireplace! Wow, I haven't thought about that in years. Thanks Apple
