3 Memories Until Christmas

These were made by my kids at the dining room table in the first house that John and I shared. So many memories. Blending two families. Becoming a stay at home mom. Board games played at the table. Disastrous dinners and John teaching me how to cook. Orange shag carpet that he let me replace with white – I don’t know which was worse. lol. Fireworks in the backyard. My most memorable Christmas – the year Santa filled the living room with balloons so it wouldn’t look so empty under the tree.

This year I helped my four oldest grandchildren make these ornaments for their own trees and they were created at the same table their parents used.

Apple, your memories always warm my heart. I remember some words of wisdom my grandfather told me when we were just starting out with our family about love being more important than things or money and that the "days are long but the years are short." Also, that parenting days will be the ones you always look back on as being the best ones of your life, no matter how difficult they are. He should know; he and Grandma raised five children, countless foster children, and helped raise four grandchildren!

Thanks for sharing all these memories. Nearly every one has brought tears to my eyes as they trigger my own precious memories.

Miriam, I'm happy that my memories have triggered some memories for you too. It's hard to believe that I've been an empty nester for ten years now!
